IT'S OFFICIAL! IT'S BARCA MANIA!  

Were you expecting us to do something different? Not on your life! We are in this one for life, brah! Yap, every day the sentiment on the island grows stronger and stronger in Barca's favor, as the chocolaty goodness goes deeper and deeper and deeper from all sides, and in all ways.

Barca is sitting, poised, for a victory that is historical, categorical, amazing, and profound. And we aren't just blowing smoke up your ass. That is for others to do. If you like that stuff. What? Is that getting a little too raw for ya? Well just wait, for Joan Cornrows X-RATED blogger minion posts. That's right, we are going to have to actually censor some of this stuff, to continue with a G rating. Oh, wait we made this an adult blog, that's right. Yeah, but even WE have standards. Something that Joans fistiee Snarkie million dollar minyuns don't.

But, enough about Joan, because this is BARCA MANIA! 

Our staff has been overwhelmed with questions regarding where to get Barca posters, stickers, signs, banners, ect. Well, all we can say is donate a pile of money so he can print out more! Gotta wait for all of those  peeps in da background, to pump out more shirts, more stickers, banners and stuff, well peeps this is grass roots, so make sure to donate till it hurts, so he can really get those signs out there! Remember, Bernard just gets to recycle his, so he has less to spend on stickers and yard signs and stuff. This is Barcas Inaugural run, so he has to start fresh just like Bernard did. But unlike Bernard, Dustin doesn't have huge interests backing him, or the Republican and democratic parties, which combined put him into office. Dustin is running as an independent, so he need a lot of independent dollars to get more information, and signs and stickers and banners printed and out there, so if everyone can donate just a little bit, that would help to keep stuff rolling off the assembly line. Don't worry, there will be shirts, stickers banners and signs for everyone that wants one, rest assured!

Its REPUBLICAN FEEDING FRENZY TIME, when they come out in force, from usually hiding under the bushes, with their GIGANORMOUS signs, and Hawaiian last names, like Aiona and Hoomanawanui. These are grand old Hawaiian names, unfortunately attached to a grand old loser party, of whom we have seen enough of in this state and on this island.

Ever wonder why the Republicans never run  Mayoral candidate, even when a Democrat one is mayor or running for Mayor? Well, the answer is simple. Since the late Mayor Bryan Baptiste ran, as a republican, and won, after being graced by Maryanne Kusaka, who was also a republican,  they haven't needed too, because the republican party graced Bernard with the seat, because he was just a nice guy that wanted to make everyone happy and bring the island together, so he agreed to a republican cabinet and administration, with a democratic face. And that is how it has been since 2008. So, as you can see, yet again, No official Republican endorsed candidate is running for mayor. Because they have Bernard. Oh, the odd cannonball has run, but they don't support them, the same as the Democratic party.

But, you see, with the loss of Uncle Turk, who is a TRUE DEMOCRAT, and believed in the true democratic party values recent passing away,  the real old democratic guard is gone. The democratic party here on Kauai has become filled with republicans, and republican conservative values, making them actually a quasi republican party, with true liberals and core value party supporters pushed and shoved into the fringes in favor or the "I am in bed with everyone", political perennial candidates, who just circle the same tank like sharks, and not letting anyone else into the fray. It is this consistently beating down of the democratic party here, and the emergence of the republicans, as really leading the show under the face of the democratic party while pandering to mostly the Filipino community,. Some years, that makes Filipinos vote more democratically, other years, it is more Republican. At either rate, NO ONE is getting into public office here, without the Filipino vote, and strong Union support. No one. period. And we believe that BOTH of these groups are as frustrated with the way things are right now, as the rest of us are. 

It is time to upset the applecart, and everyone wants a chance to push it over. That is why Bernard has lasted so long and so strong. Because he didn't care what side his bread was buttered on, as long as he could keep the engines of the county going without it falling into the gutter. 

Unfortunately that just didn't happen.

Lets turn the MAYOR THON into a BARCA THON!

A week before the MAYOR-THON,

a free publicity even for the mayor, with lots of feel good stuff in it, to promote the larger agenda of health, wealth and fitness, (oh did we say wealth? our bad)the men's toilet by Kapaa Beach part has been broken to smithereens, with women appalled to find men In the woman's bathroom trying to use it. We here, at kaua'i snarklectic assume e, since this is a Mayoral event, the toilet might actually get fixed. Thank god the Mayor was supposed to be there, otherwise it probably wouldn't have gotten any attention whatsoever!

The Mayor A Thon is where you can see Kauai County Staff and administration, commission, board members, and all of the people who run this island (figuratively speaking), get out dutifully, don shirts, and get into their prospective cliques, to do their civic duty, get out from their desks, and go and support the Mayor and Ohana in making sure that the Bike path gets its moneys worth. They also bring all of their kids, as well, so its kinda like the administration and County Christmas party, only with sweating involved. The presents come much later. As soon as he gets back in. We all know that if Barca gets in, they will be all scrambling to be at his side. Seriously. Like a little school of fish that follows the humpback to clean off the stuff. yeah Like that. Not gonna happen in a Barca administration, trust me. And it is that fear, that barca may actually win, that is probably gonna ruffle a hell of a lot of feathers. A LOT. 

Now honestly we don't mind the whole Fitness aspect, but the political overtones sort of override the good parts in an election year. Unfortunately when you are the incumbent Mayor, facing an election, and your Mayor a thon is smack dab in the middle of a campaign, it can start to look a bit snarky, especially when you can go down and see some of the rarely seen faces that actually run the county, because most of them are slaving away hard in small lit room with air conditioning, and patting each other on the back. A LOT. 

We here at kauai Snarklectic think that this is the perfect opportunity to remind everyone that Dustin Barca has already had a fun run for all of the keiki, all around the island already. The kids had a great time. We think his is probably a lot more genuine, then the 1,200 Mayoral supporters who will be pretty much doing their duty to the boss in showing up. But then, there is nothing wrong with 1,200 of Barcas supporters showing up, foregoing the purchasing of the t shirts, since we aren't quite sure, how that gets round about funneled out to anything, of course it doesn't we are sure, but its just we would rather spend the money on Dustin barca tshirts instead, and run and bike the path along with the Mayor.

It is great to see him come out once a year, and get his fiitness on! Yeah! it woulda been great to see him and Dustin, just running and paddling the island together, mono a mono, no handlers, no posse's, no personal assistants, just two Hawaiian guys out on the road, together, and paddling together, getting to know each other and understand each other. That woulda been truly awesome. TI coulda been a Bromance! NOT!

Well, that actually can happen, so lets get down there, wear the Barca shirts, and participate. Because there is no way they can tell us not to wear our shirts right? Cuz this isn't a political fundraiser for Bernard is it? Nope, its a free community event for health and fitness! So, lets get down there and show our aloha for health and fitness, and the man that really inspires us to be healthy and fit! Dustin barca! Yeah!

Yeah, right, now how many of you out there have the guts to pull that off? OR how about some Dustin barca sign waving? Theres a nice challenge for ya. With 1.,200 attending, and supposedly it isn't a political event, with political season in full swing, it is entirely ok to wave Dustin Barca signs. oh wait, this is a COUNTY sponsored event. There is a law on the books, nothing county or state can be political. Oh. yeah. Right. Lol. You guys getting where we are taking this? Thats right. if you show up at the event, trying to support a different mayoral candidate, you will more then likely be escorted out, or asked or even told to remove your clothing, banners and signs. yea[p Thats right. Isn't politics AWESOME? LOL.

BUT...here is the clincher. they CANNOT stop you from wearing signs, carrying banners, or stickers or shirts on the BIKEPATH itself, as long as you are MOVING, ie ya gotta be running, walking or biking. You don't have to be part of the Mayor a thon, you can just be regular people, out on the path, wearing and carrying whatever the frick you want too, and there taint a darn thing anyone can do about it. So, we can always fill it up with barca supporters on the path, people. And when the administration cant keep up with our very fit Barca supporters, hey man offer them some water, a smile, a shaka, and a fond aloha! Cuz its not about politics, its all about FITNESS and HEALTH! Remember that, right?

And this is why we need change, and independent, whose hands aren't dirtied with the muck of the trappings of The Emperors New Clothes. His hands are just deep in Kauai soil. He would never sell out. It isn't in his nature, and it isn't what is driving his campaign. And it would never be. His manner and demeanor assure everyone that this is a serious, devoted, and mentally fit young gentleman, who does not shrink away from stuff when it gets difficult, but he isn't about to buckle to pressure from anyone to do what he knows in his heart is wrong for the core and good of Kauai. Sometimes it isn't about making peace, but about making peace with a direction, and some leadership. It's not about patting each other on the back, and then just letting things ride like they always do. Not any more. Those days are gone. Kauai. So, get over it!
