Like, Joan, Here, we like to start our posts off with enlightening, gentle caresses, and sweet thoughts of delight before we launch into our sourpuss rantings.
Like here, with Joan's Musings post:
But, Before we get into all of that, let's look at Joan's hypocrisy some more, shall we? She lambastes, boasts, fries, slices and dices the "Dynasty" of Hooser and Hooser taking a crack at the council, (Father and Son), and then applauds Daryle and Arryl for it. (Father and son).
So, whats the difference? Is it really the fresh faced farming goodness of Arryle? The awesome local born and raised of this father and son team? Nope.
Its the fact that the first team supported bill 960, and the other team didn't.
Sure don't see her calling Dylan Hooser "Fresh faced". Even though we took a microscopic look at both young guys we couldn't detect any difference in fresh facedness. But Joan, now, who is apparently a skin expert in being fresh faced, although you wouldn't know it to look at her, Joan raves about THIS father and son duo.
If this is not the definition of Hypocrisy, what is?
We, here, believe that it is time to put nepotism aside. Joan hates nepotism. If you read her blog, it is a theme throughout her rantings and ravings regarding everyone she does not agree with. Nepotism ranks high on her list of evils. She used every epitaph in the book, to ream Gary Hooser and Dylan Hooser a new hole for it. But apparently, as usual Joan The Hypocracist gives herself great leeway in her own belief systems.
This is what makes her the Chocolaty gooey delicious Queen of Snark.

Joan COnrow, expert in fresh facedness. *lol*
Here is Joan's Post, asking for more donations for her free blog, claiming it is a stroke for free speech or something like that. Why Joan, who so obviously makes a small King's ransom being a "freelance" writer, enough to support her on the Garden island since 1987, (Although we seriously doubt that. We would have to see voting records, tax info, and something with a return address on it from that time period, since no one ever heard of Joan before her Civil Beat gig, and we are sure that Civil Beat didn't pay her enough to afford food, rent housing and a computer with Internet access all those years. if they did, we want a job there, as it must pay Uku piles of bucks. Which begs the question, if Joan was a freelance writer, or still is, not that this is writing its just opining, then wouldn't she have had to have gone on some sort of assistance during those years to survive especially after 1992, when there weren't exactly a ton of Jobs here, for "free lance Writers?". I mean can anyone remember Joan working at a coffee shop, or a retail store, or as a checkout clerk, or a tour guide or a taxi driver here? How many knew Joan in 1987? Was she always this snarky? Does Joan have a husband, kids, ect? Who was she married to? How does she live, does she rent, or own? Does she drive a big hummer, or ride a bike? I mean we are just really curious as to whom Joan really is, that she needs donations.
Where is this "Non profit group or organization" that Joan has, that is REQUIRED to post up a paypal button, on a FREE Blogsite?

Remember, Snarkie Minions, it doesn't cost ANYTHING to have a blog on this site. So, what has driven Joan into a state of destitution that she needs donations for this blog?
Under what 501 (C)3 does Joan operate under?
She can have a free ride, until donations to her blog reach 10 grand. Once she gets 10 grand plus one, she really has to prove that she is a legitimate non profit, 501 (c) 3. SO best we can figure is, its a quickie ten grand scoop for money. judging by her postings, it seems that people are dumping cash on her. That's great, whatever, but what about JOAN'S TRANSPARENCY. SHE DEMANDS TRANSPARENCY FORM OTHER GROUPS< SLAMS< THEM DIGS IN TO THEIR FUNDING SOURCES BUT NOW ITS ON HER WHAT WILL JOAN DO? WILL SHE GIVE US ALL TRANSPARENCY>?
Chuckles Lasker, commented somewhere, that Non-Profits have to have public meetings, and that groups and organizations associated with 2491 didn't do that. That they were secretive, and not transparent. So did Joan. Constantly. Like every other blogpost. Yet, WHERE IS JOANS TRANSPARENCY? We call hypocrisy on this one, people.
*Unless Joan can SHOW YOU AN ORGANIZATION, OR WHAT HER MISSIONS STATEMENT IS, or something other then, I'm Joan Conrow, I have a free blog, and I need donations. Why do you need donations? THE BLOG IS FREE! The only thing that costs is a computer, which she already has. If she runs off WiiFii she dosnt even need to may for the Internet.
SO, again, WHAT IS THE DONATION FOR? SO, when and IF anyone gives her enough that she has to prove she is a legit non-profit, we will never know>
Can't wait for THAT blogpost
A search for any group under her name shows up NADA. Also, what does Joan do with the information she gets as far as their personal data, from blog donors? We think privacy, given the tone and ilk of Joan's postings should raise huge red flags for everyone. How does donating to Joan's blog and Joan herself, of whom we know nothing about, her true past, her real working history on this island, and her personal circumstances, not to mention WHY she is asking for donations, for what PURPOSE, and HOW the money will be spent, really begs the question, do you REALLY want to donate to this shadowy figure?
All we can figure out, is she takes donations at the foodbank. Is she on the board of directors? Is she running the foodbank? Does she have a job there? Do they pay her or does she volunteer? What exactly, or HOW does Joan COnrow make her money each month? Most positions on boards and commissions are volunteer, thus assuming that you have the time to donate to it, or the group. Having this much time usually means that people are retired. Thus, they live on a fixed income. If this is the case, then Joan, herself, as an individual, is NOT a Non-Profit Organization. There has to be a legitimate GROUP, and there are all kinds of rules for 501(c)3 in Hawaii.
HOW TO FILE AS A NON PROFIT IN THE STATE OF HAWAII
There are TONS of rules for this.
It does mention that "Literary" is a category. However, is someones Opinion blog, a "Literary" pursuit, because in that case every damned one of 100 billion blogs out there qualifies as a Non-Profit. Joan's blog is NOT a "News" or "Reporting Blog", it is an OPINION blog.
Here are some excerpts:
1. Choose who will be on the founding board of directors for your nonprofit corporation.
In Hawaii, your nonprofit corporation must have three or more directors.2. Choose a name for your Hawaii nonprofit corporation.
The name of your nonprofit corporation cannot be the same as the name of another nonprofit corporation on file with the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. To see if your proposed name is available, you can search Hawaii's name database at www.hawaii.gov/dcca/areas/breg.3. Prepare and file your nonprofit articles of incorporation.
You will need to create and file nonprofit articles of incorporation with the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs office. The articles of incorporation need to include basic information such as your nonprofit's name, your nonprofit's statement of purpose, certain provisions required for state and federal tax-exempt purposes, and the name and address of your registered agent (the person to whom legal notices should be sent). The Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs should have a nonprofit articles of incorporation form -- either a fill-in-the-blank form or a sample on which you can base your articles. To ensure that you'll receive 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status when you apply with the IRS, you'll need to include specific language to ensure that you'll receive tax-exempt status, such as a clause dedicating the nonprofit's assets to another 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization should your nonprofit end. Your state form may include these provisions already but, if yours doesn't, consult a legal self-help guide such as How to Form a Nonprofit Corporation, by Anthony Mancuso (Nolo), to make sure your articles comply with Hawaii's nonprofit laws.
4. Prepare bylaws for your Hawaii nonprofit corporation.
You'll need to prepare bylaws that comply with Hawaii law and contain the rules and procedures your corporation will follow for holding meetings, electing officers and directors, and taking care of other corporate formalities required in Hawaii. For more information, see Nolo's article Nonprofit Formation Documents: Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, and Organizational Minutes or, for help creating your bylaws, see Nolo's book How to Form a Nonprofit Corporation, by Anthony Mancuso (Nolo). Your bylaws do not need to be filed with the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs -- they are your internal operating manual.5. Hold a meeting of your board of directors.
Your first board meeting is usually referred to as the organizational meeting of the board. The board should take such actions as:- approving the bylaws
- appointing officers
- setting an accounting period and tax year, and
- approving initial transactions of the corporation, such as the opening of a corporate bank account.
6. Set up a corporate records binder.
You should set up a corporate records binder for your nonprofit to hold important document such as articles of incorporation, bylaws, and minutes of meetings. For more information, as well as minutes forms, consent forms, and other resolutions, see Nonprofit Meetings, Minutes & Records, by Anthony Mancuso (Nolo). Now that you have created your nonprofit corporation, you can obtain your federal and Hawaii state tax exemptions. Here are the three steps you must take to obtain your tax-exempt status:
1. File your Form 1023 federal tax exemption application.
To obtain federal tax-exempt status, you need to complete and file IRS Form 1023 with the IRS. This long and detailed form asks for lots of information about your organization, including its history, finances, organizational structure, governance policies, operations, activities, and more. For more information, see Nolo's article How to Obtain 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Status for Your Nonprofit or, for line-by-line instruction on how to complete the form, see How to Form a Nonprofit Corporation, by Anthony Mancuso (Nolo).2. Obtain your Hawaii state tax exemptions.
Once you have your federal tax exemption, you need to obtain your Hawaii state tax exemption. This may include exemptions from income, property, sales, and other state taxes. Hawaii's tax agency will have a form you need to file to obtain your state tax exemption.3. Other state reporting and registration requirements.
Depending on your activities and the size of your organization, you may need to register with the Hawaii attorney general before doing any fundraising activities. Check with Hawaii's attorney general website at http://hawaii.gov/ag/charities for additional rules or, for more information about fundraising registration requirements, see Nonprofit Fundraising Registration: The 50-State Guide, by Stephen Fishman (Nolo). That's it! That's all it takes to become a Section 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit corporation in Hawaii.

These are not nosy questions. SHE is asking US to "donate " MONEY to her. Therefore, the general public has ever RIGHT to ask such questions.
When people go for assistance, anywhere, they are asked all kinds of nosy questions, and everything must be revealed before a red cent is ever given away. We feel the same scrutiny should be asked of the general public being asked to donate to a "freelance writers" blog, where the intent and explanation for WHY the money is needed on a site that is free, by someone who apparently has the means to live here comfortably since 1987, and is logically into retirement age, or close to it, is asking for donations.
Here is Joan Conrow, thanking her donators, so we see that as an admittance that donations have and are being made.
We wait with bated breath, for our sacred empress to enlighten her sheeple Snarkie Fistie Acolytes about her sacred and special non profit organization. We can't wait to donate!
Amene.
Kauai Snarklectic Publishing Team
Still have not seen a post from Joan on her blog showing any type of transparency in HER asking for donations. Pot calling the kettle black, and the pot is screaming in utter rage right back, "STOP BEING A HYPOCRITE!"
